Inside the Cathedral, there is a staircase that leads to the archaeological remains of the ancient basilica of Santa Reparata , which were brought to light on the occasion of a large excavation campaign conducted between 1965 and 1973. The visit includes the Baptistery (with Ghiberti’s gates) and the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the symbol of the city and one of the greatest masterpieces of the history of architecture.
